E.P Carrillo Selection Oscuro Small Churchill Cigar - Single
Forced by the Cuban Revolution into exile in Miami, Ernesto Perez-Carrillo Snr. started a small factory in the Little Havana neighbourhood, he called it
El Credito after his factory in Cuba.
In 1980, ownership of the factory passed to Ernesto Jr., who improved blends and artwork and took full advantage of the cigar boom of the 1990s. In 1997, he sold the business to General Cigar, joined them, and became a brand ambassador for his father's creation, La Gloria Cubana.
Becoming independent led to the formation of E.P. Carrillo, a truly family affair. Success with blends like La Historia, Encore and Pledge have firmly established the company as a top cigar producer.
The Seleccion Oscuro series is rolled at Tabacalera La Alianza SA in the Dominican Republic, blender Ernesto chose to use a Mexican San Anres Oscuro wrapper (dark and oily), he paired this with an Ecuadorian binder and finally filler tobacco from Nicaragua.
Medium to full bodied this cigar has notes of cedar with pepper, some earthiness and a little oak. The flavour profile is well balanced, there's plenty going on, but strength may be an issue for the less experienced smoker.
